I Knew at First Glance That It Was No Ordinary Fluffball (ひと目で、尋常でないもふもふだと見抜いたよ Hitome de, Jinjō de Nai Mofu Mofu da to Minuita yo?) is the first episode of Is the Order a Rabbit? anime series. The episode premiered on April 10, 2014.

Kokoa Hoto just moved to a town where she discovers that she will live with the cute Chino Kafū and work in her family owned Cafe. While observing their strange pet rabbit Tippy, she also befriends Rize Tedeza, a part-timer there.

Arriving to her new home town, Cocoa admires it's vast beauty and cuteness but finds herself lost. She attempts to use her map but it provides little help, so she wanders on her own until coming across a building with Rabbit House written on a sign.

She steps inside to find a strange girl with something fluffy on top of her head, but Cocoa is disappointed when she doesn't see a rabbit there. She remarks on this but startles the smaller girl nearby, who assumes Cocoa is a customer. She seats her and gives her a drink to calm her down, then introduces her to Tippy, whose charm quickly grabs Cocoa's attention. Cocoa demands having her until the girl informs her that her pet isn't for sale. However, for each cup of coffee she purchases, she can cuddle it. Cocoa orders three cups and the girl runs off to prepare them, returning a bit later to find Cocoa eagerly reaching for the large, white fluff-ball. Cocoa could care less about her drinks as the girl advises her to drink them before they get cold. In an attempt to appear more sophisticated, Cocoa tries to guess the blends. She fails horribly, but she likes all three of them anyway. She's ecstatic to finally be given permission to hold Tippy as promised, but Tippy is very uncomfortable and he tries to yell and break free, much to her confusion. The smaller girl insists Cocoa is just hearing things, then claims she performed ventriloquism while taking Tippy back.

Recalling what brought her there, Cocoa brings up that she needed help with some directions, but to her surprise she somehow arrived to the location she was in search of. Believing this to be fate, Cocoa formally introduces herself to the girl, who returns by introducing herself as Chino. Chino goes on to bring up that she is the granddaughter of the owner and usually does the housework, but because of Cocoa being hired it will be her job from now on. They also have a lot of help with the Cafe already so she won't be involved there, much to Cocoa's disappointment. She requests meeting the owner, only to sadly learn that he passed away and the cafe is currently run by Chino's dad.

As Chino tries finding work for Cocoa, she is quickly recommended to treat her like a big sister. They reach the wardrobe and Chino heads off to locate a uniform for Cocoa. Cocoa can hardly wait to start her new job, but she becomes uneasy, unable to shake a concerning feeling she has suddenly. Just then, a girl jumps out with a gun aimed at her face dressed only in a bra and panties. The girl demands to know of her reason to be there under the assumption she is a thief, and Cocoa panics as Chino returns until being informed Rize is a part-timer. When asked about the gun, Rize explains that as her dad is a soldier she was trained in several forms of self-defense, only to insist she's a "normal girl".

After they change clothing, Cocoa and Rize exchange formal greetings and Chino asks Rize to lend Cocoa a hand for her first day on the job. Cocoa is excited to get started, but panics when Rize demands to be addressed as "sir" before bringing her to the supply room. She explains that occasionally they need to bring bags of coffee beans out; but with Cocoa struggling to lift even one, Rize attempts to imitate her in order to seem more like a normal girl. Cocoa tries to lift a smaller bag while Rize picks up two, but she pretends they are very heavy as they return to the front.

There, Rize shows Cocoa the menu and suggests she memorizes it. Cocoa feels this is too difficult though, pointing out the several varieties of coffee written down. Rize recommends some easier methods, pointing out that Chino can recognize the blend by scent. Behind the counter, Cocoa happens to spot the notebook Chino is holding and brings it up, causing Chino to explain that during breaks she usually does a little homework to get it done sooner. To their shock, Cocoa effortlessly manages to answer the equations, with Rize testing her out by asking her some prices of various items and then adding them together. Despite this, Cocoa claims she doesn't have any special skills.

A customer approaches and Cocoa eagerly runs up to greet her, explaining how she is new there and she takes her order as the woman is seated. Rize and Chino compliment her customer skills as she returns and soon they have their own customers to handle. For a while things run smoothly, until Cocoa bumps into Rize, which she took as a momentary threat until being given an explanation.

After a customer leaves, Cocoa returns to the counter and asks Chino why they don't wear rabbit ears, as the cafe is called "Rabbit House". Chino claims that by wearing them, it would change the cafe into something different; although Cocoa can't help but think Rize would look cute in the bunny ears anyway. Rize ends up picturing something more graphic though and gets flustered, as does Chino as she realizes this. Cocoa then asks why the cafe has such a name without any sort of rabbit theme inside of it, and Rize points out it involves Tippy. Cocoa comments that Tippy doesn't really look like a rabbit though, so Rize asks her what she would call the Cafe and she responds with "Cafe Floofy". Rize states the name is too literal, but Chino likes it.

Later, Cocoa spots Rize doing something with some milk and she explains that as of late a lot of Cafe have been including latte art. She shows Cocoa some examples and allows her to try it out, but after Cocoa requests one last example, Rize draws an elaborate image of a tank in the drink, much to Cocoa's shock. She goes on to try but when doesn't turn out very well, and she refuses to accept Rize's pity compliment. She asks Chino to make one and she agrees, with an abstract and creepy result.

Eventually the work day concludes and the girls change into casual clothing while discussing Cocoa's living arrangements. Cocoa insists that she and Chino make dinner together, but Chino refuses on the grounds that she can handle it on her own. They proceed to see Rize off and head to the kitchen, where Chino continues to reject Cocoa's wishes to help her. In hopes of getting her to reconsider, Cocoa shows her some latte art from earlier and surprises Chino as she observes the images to see that she based them on their time together. It's then Chino's dad arrives home and she hands over Tippy to him, explaining that he works the evening shift -where the Cafe transforms into a bar- so she makes dinner. Usually they do not eat together since he is so busy, and while Cocoa thinks this is pretty cool she can see how lonely Chino is. She compares the situation to what a pair of sisters may do, and this makes Chino address her the way Cocoa asked her to do earlier. Delighted, Cocoa requests she keep doing it but Chino refuses, saying it's not special if she were to do so.

Chino prepares for a bath and Cocoa intervenes to request sharing the bath with her. While soaking in the tub she asks if she can share her bedroom as well and brings up wanting to chat with her, and because of her own items having not shown up yet. After a moment of silence Chino slowly agrees, then asks Cocoa to be kind to her from now on, implying that she is willing to open to her a little more.

Meanwhile, Rize has just finished her own bath and is in her bedroom. She talks about what happened throughout her day, but as it turns out she is talking to a stuffed rabbit. She denies feeling lonely.

As she helps Chino with her hair, Cocoa asks where Tippy is. Chino explains how he stays with her dad when he is working, which causes her to express disappointment. She then decides that since she can't hold Tippy, she will just hug and cuddle with Chino instead; which earns her a stuffed rabbit to the face.

In the bar, Tippy and Chino's father discuss Cocoa. He mentions how quick she got used to the Cafe, but he claims not to really enjoy the attention she doted on him.

While laying in bed, Rize is surprised by a message she got and she sees its from Cocoa. Opening the document, she sees a picture of the latte art she made and decides to make it her wallpaper.

Cocoa turns away from the window she was looking out of and puts her phone away. She turns to Chino and expresses how happy she is to be there, and she mentions that she is sure that there will be plenty of fun times now. Chino agrees and asks for them to be good friends from now on.
